Don Haskins Rec Center is suffering water main problems and is now closed for what is anticipated to be up to four weeks. Unfortunately, they will be moving their children's Club Rec events to Galatzan Main Gym from 9AM to 2 PM daily for the duration. Beginning
Monday, June 12, Pickleball will change - see picture. This will continue until either the water issue is repaired or Club Rec ends July 7.
Chamizal is also hosting kid camps and we will not be allowed gym time until Tuesday, July 11.
Please check with your gym for the summer, Monday until July 11. Too many are changing for kid camps for us to keep track of.
I just discovered (from Marti at Alberson's) that Armijo Rec Center, at 700 E 7th street near downtown has pickleball hours. I will try to get hours and number of courts on Monday and add it to our website under Places to Play.

The Ascarate Futsal/Pickleball court dedication new scheduled date is Wednesday, June 14, at 11:00 AM. The courts ARE NOT in the same place as the original four dedicated courts - directions are on the main page on the website https://www.pickleballelpaso.com/ Many of our members will be working the Police Games which are on the same day, so if you are able to go to the Ascarate dedication and support the County's efforts for pickleball they would appreciate it.
Police Games
This event, comprised of 40 individual events (like the Olympics) is being held in El Paso for the first time in 40 years. There are 1200 entries, and Pickleball will be played at Chamizal indoor on Wednesday, June 14 at 2:00. Thank you to our volunteers who are running the event and those who donated their time to stuff goodie bags: Ben Avalos, Terry Avalos, Patty Morrow, Kelly Groves, Dina Chen, Susan and Russell Wiggs, and Ruben Pena.
UTEP Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

Pickleball will be a new club beginning in the Fall, 2023 Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). The UTEP Extended University Pickleball Club will meet twice per week at the Auxiliary Gym attached to Memorial Gym. Three courts will be available for open play and lessons will be available for beginners! Dates and times will be announced in the Fall Catalog coming to your mailbox soon.
Paul Harvey Under Repair
The City removed the tennis nets at Paul Harvey and posted a sign saying those courts are closed for repair. This picture was taken June 10. These courts are on the westside a few blocks off of Sunland Park Dr.
